The Girard Family
Hôtel Château Laurier directors Alain, Guylaine, Chantal, Michel, and Jacynthe Girard owe their passion for hotelkeeping to their father, Robert Girard. Sharing a close friendship and contagious rapport, their goal is to pass on a major family legacy to both the region and the next generation that brings credibility, awareness, and know-how to the local hotel business—it’s their way of contributing to the development of the Québec City area.

- 1889Construction of four row houses on Grande Allée by Louis Bilodeau according to the plans of Joseph-Ferdinand Peach, the most sought-after architect in Québec City
- 1947Founding of Hôtel Château Laurier by Lucien Plamondon in these row houses
- 1975Acquisition of Hôtel Château Laurier by the Girard family and founding of Group Cogirès
- 1980Acquisition of Hôtel Manoir Lafayette by the Girard family
- 1992Construction of Manoir Lafayette. No. of rooms increases from 8 to 69
- 1999First phase of expansion work on Hôtel Château Laurier. No. of rooms increases from 57 to 112
- 2001Second phase of expansion work on Hôtel Château Laurier. No. of rooms increases from 112 to 154
- 2002Acquisition of building at 650 avenue Wilfrid-Laurier by Groupe Cogirès for major expansion of Hôtel Château Laurier
- 2005Start of major expansion work, the most extensive ever undertaken by the Girard family. Additions include over 90 rooms and suites, 17 meeting rooms, a pool, a fitness centre, an indoor parking garage, a ballroom, and an indoor courtyard
- 2007End of work and official opening of the new facilities
